His mercy extends to those who fear him….Luke 1:50
I don’t want to believe in a merciless God; a God who takes revenge; a God with human characteristics and human flaws. This merciless God is preached from pulpits around the world. I have read about this God in various “holy books” and those written by “well-known” religious theologians.
My God, I pray you are the God that Mary sung about in Luke…His mercy extends to those who fear him. I pray that you are the God of Grace, the God of forgiveness, the Merciful God of love.
If you are that other God, what hope do I have? As my grandmother would say, “I am glad that I am not God,” her reasoning was that many would have been lost because of her humanness. Grandmother often with tears in her eyes said, “Forgive me Lord.”
A God that understands and forgives– Now, that’s the God I choose to serve; a merciful God that forgives a lifetime of sins.
“Oh, how I praise the Lord. How I rejoice in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant….and he has done great things for me. His mercy goes on from generation to generation….” Luke 1:46-50.
What is your image of God? Who do you choose to serve?
